Doug Koontz is a local native who lives in Northeast Pensacola.  He received his music education from the University of West Florida and Louisiana State University where he studied voice, piano, and choral conducting.  After teaching for ten years, Doug entered the insurance industry and currently manages the Anti-Fraud Department’s audit team for a major insurance company.  While teaching and throughout his insurance career, Doug has maintained an active role as Director of Music and as Organist/Pianist in the church music ministry realm for the past 39 years.  He has also played keyboards “in the pit” for several local productions and has sung as a member of the Pensacola Opera Chorus.  The greatest amount of his experience and that which gives him the most joy is in developing and leading choirs.  Doug and his wife, Kelly, have five children and eight grandchildren who all enjoy afternoons and Sunday’s at Nini’s and Papa’s pool.
